2000 Dates

13 February (Sunday)
Family Meeting — Family and friends of participants who are abroad meet with each other and One World Working Groups to learn about reverse culture shock and prepare for the return of their loved ones.
15-16 March
OW Groups — Return from Africa, Central America and India
15-21 March
Open — no scheduled activities for participants
22-27 March
Prepare Presentations — returned groups prepare presentations about their experiences for schools, churches, etc.
26 March (Sunday)
One World Information Session (A.M.) — an information session for the benefit of people thinking of apply for a One World program. Mexico Participant Selection (P.M.) and the selection of participants for One World’s summer Mexico Program
27 March-6 April
Group Presentations — The recently returned participants give their presentations at schools etc. (Mostly in Ontario)
6-14 April
Final Debriefing — all three recently returned groups spend time debriefing their personal and group experiences, and prepare to reintegrate into Canadian society.
16 April (Sunday)
Closing Celebration — final group presentations done primarily for family and friends and the One World community, and farewell to each other before going home with their families.
19-22 May
Selection Weekend — a weekend of workshops and activities which form part of the selection process for the next three groups beginning in September
17 June(Saturday)
Collective Gathering — a One World meeting in which activities are evaluated and planned for the next year.
18 June(Sunday)
OW Retreat — a spiritual retreat for members of the One World community.
30 June-7 July
Mexico Orientation — preparation period for the Mexico group
? August
Mexico Debriefing — Mexico group debriefs their personal and group experiences after returning from Mexico.
28-30 August
Facilitator Preparation — a workshop for new facilitators September Canoe/Hiking Trip -eight-month programs begin. A canoe or hiking trip is one of the first things each of the groups do as a way of getting to know each other.
September 3
Group Orientation — all three groups begin a series of workshops and activities to prepare them for their overseas experience.

Reunion — during the preparation period of the new groups we hold a reunion weekend for past participants. This allows new participants to meet and learn from past participants.

Urban Projects — each of the groups spend a week or so working with the poor and marginalized here in Canada (In case anyone is under the illusion that you have to cross a border to have a cross-class experience.)
24-29 September
3 Group Retreat — workshops and activities that will hopefully help participants explore the spiritual dimensions of their experience.
1-7 October
Open/Depart — a few days of free time to say good-byes, and prepare for departure.
11-12 November
Debriefing Weekend — a weekend in which past participants (from any previous program) can get together to discuss their experience in terms of integrating into, and reconciling their One World experience with life here in Canada.
10 December (Sunday)
Family Meeting — first meeting of new participants’ family and friends. This provides family and friends with an opportunity to meet past participants, parents of past participants, members of the One World Working Groups, and each other. Often there is also an opportunity to view slides or presentations done by previous groups.
