Statement of Purpose
 

The Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office (UU-UNO) is dedicated to achieving at the United Nations a democratic world community.

To this end, inspired by Unitarian Universalist principles, the UU-UNO is committed to peace, freedom and environmental responsibility as well as to social, civil and economic justice for all.

The UU-UNO is a membership organization of individuals, congregations and institutions. It is an Associate Member of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) that speaks, acts, and bears witness at the United Nations on behalf of Unitarian Universalists (UUs).

Affiliated with, but not financially dependent upon the UUA, the UU-UNO is the denomination’s agent and voice at the UN.

The UU-UNO
  • informs UU youth and adults about the structure, function, achievements and problems of the UN and the importance of making it a strong, effective actor in international life on behalf of all the world’s peoples

  • supports UUs in acting and speaking in UN forums of Non-Governmental Organizations, the Department of Public Information, and the Economic and Social Council, on behalf of UU values and issue
